Attending with Marine Escort 239th Annual Marine Corps Ball Celebration in Houston
Houston, Texas (November 6, 2014) – Mayra Leal (www.MayraLealInFilm.com) is a University of Houston graduate from Houston and has over 31 movie and TV credits to her name and has appeared in “Locked Up Abroad in Bangladesh” on National Geographic, “Machete” by Director Robert Rodriguez, “Memphis Beat”, “Arena”, “Revolution”, “The Wisdom to Know the Difference” (with four best pictures awards) by Director Daniel Baldwin, and more. In the past, she has supported Toys for Tots, a Marine toy drive for kids. She currently resides in Malibu, California and has accepted this high honor request that has been approved by the local Marine community.
The Marine Corps Ball Ceremony will be held at the Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport location on Saturday evening November 8th and at Marine duty stations and cities of record worldwide. The actual Marine Corps Birthday is celebrated on November 10th which represents the founding of the United States Marine Corps at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia by the Continental Congress, November 10th, 1775.
Mayra recently received an invitation to attend the ball with a Marine who was serving in combat, but he could not attend for personal reasons. In the spirit of brotherhood, the local Marines are providing a Marine escort to accompany Mayra who is excited about the opportunity to honor the Marines (privately).
She is thankful to local Marine Corps League and the Houston Marine Coordinating Council (who serves the youth ROTC, retired, reserve and active duty Marines).
Mayra and her escort will also attend a Sunday brunch at Brennan’s provided by Chef Walker (a former Marine) and cake cutting ceremony to honor our Marine Veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
A brief on the Marine Corps Birthday:
Quote about the Marine Birthday taken from Marines YouTube Channel: “On 10 November each year, wherever we are, we pause to celebrate the anniversary of our Corps, and reflect on who we are, what we do, and why we do it.” — Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr.
Mayra would like to thank several private and public companies that have donated their services to make this date memorable for the United States Marine: R & R Partnership, Inc. (limousine service from a family who lost a loved one in Afghanistan), Philis Santello-Christensen, Broker/Franchise Owner of ITEX in Houston, Sunday brunch by Chef Carl Walker, GM of Brennan’s Houston, airline tickets by Ken P. Marsh of Fearless Networkers, Inc., Sheila Harrison of The Entrepreneur Broadcasting Company, Inc. , a gown by Houston Designer Chloe Dao, Joe Omar for her hair and make-up, Sikk Shades by Eddie Bauer, Jr., and Marketing Dynamics for coordinating the date experience.
